I have been enamored with Golden Features for several years now. I have been following the man with the Golden Face since he first broke onto the scene with his self-titled debut EP almost 5 years ago now. His ability to morph sound, and create an atmosphere of intrigue and emotion is one that is seemingly unmatched.
While Golden Features has always worked outside of the box of expectations, he really began producing some of his most impressive work when he dropped a two-track EP off of Odesza's Foreign Family imprint. Wolfie/Funeral was a blip on many music fan's radars but in my opinion, the leadoff single to the effort was the finest release in all of 2016.
Then came 2018, Golden Features released his debut album, the 10-track ‘SECT'. The album was near immaculate, touching every corner of the soundscape of dance music in subtle and original ways. In my opinion, it has not yet been topped yet – and 2018 has been a brilliant year for LP's.
Odesza – ‘Falls' (Golden Features Remix)
Fans of Odesza know the name Golden Features quite well at this point. Between his work with the duo's label, and the rumor that the dark remix of ‘Memories That You Call' the guys have been playing live belongs to him, GF is finding his name on the tip of many new fan's tongues. Now with the release of his remix of ‘Falls', fans have another reason to love Golden Features.
Steeped in dark and ominous tones, with just the right amount of brevity to keep it from becoming oppressive, Golden Feature's rework of ‘Falls' is the perfect juxtaposition from the original. Take a listen to this twisted remix below.
