After staying silent on social media and track releases for nearly a year, GRiZ has returned! Earlier today, he joined Facebook Los Angeles for a live stream of the announcement of his two new tracks “It Gets Better” and “Can’t Get Enough”.
The interview with Grant (aka GRiZ) kicked off right away with what he’s been doing over the past year and his decision to go “off the grid”. “I started to get this feeling where I was like at some party that got like too crazy, too loud, too crowded, too stuffy,” GRiZ stated, “I just needed to take some time and step outside and catch some fresh air.” GRiZ then went on to say that he wanted to focus on himself, what he was into and “what Grant’s all about”. That focus lead to the release of his two new tracks, which he was very excited to announce.
The first track, “Can’t Get Enough”, is a special one because it’s the first time that GRiZ has contributed vocals to a track. GRiZ explains that he recorded vocal demos to send to artists; however the feeling of hearing his own voice on a song which felt so personal to him was a “trip to the moon.” The track itself has a large guitar presence and funky bass lines. The sound of GRiZ’s voice gives the track an almost retro vibe as he sings about the struggles of today’s life.
“It Gets Better” features Hip Hop favorite, DRAM. The idea of “It Gets Better” was to spread good vibes whenever it would be played live. The positivity shines from the hook sung by a Chicago kid’s choir, the bouncy chorus from DRAM, and the uplifting saxophone drop of GRiZ that we all know and love.
“Can’t Get Enough” and “It Gets Better” are both available now!
