The New Year's Eve festival is a pretty recent creation in the world of dance music. For decades, one night events held on December 31 represented the only option for fans who wanted to dance their way into the new year. Now in 2018, EDM fans are overwhelmed by the litany of options available to them for New Year's Eve.
There are countless 2 and 3-day events leading up to New Year's Eve peppered across the country now, making deciding on one specific festival a pretty difficult feat. In my opinion, one event stands out above the rest, for several reasons. SnowGlobe, which takes place in the iconic location of South Lake Tahoe, has emerged as the premier dance music NYE festival. Here's why this is simply the case.
1. The Location
As mentioned above, SnowGlobe takes place in the beautiful South Lake Tahoe. The small mountain town is tucked on the border of California and Nevada and is a short drive from Reno as well as only a few hours from the Bay area. To say South Lake is picturesque is an understatement. Surround by mountains on one side, and the breathtaking lake on the other, the town is nestled in a valley that seems like it was crafted specifically for natural beauty.

SnowGlobe takes place on a college campus which is surrounded by towering evergreen trees. Some years it is surprisingly temperate, other years it becomes a winter wonderland. Regardless of what the weather decides to do any given year, SnowGlobe's natural surroundings will take your breath away.
2. The Line-Up
This one seems obvious enough. It is surely the main reason why so many people will end up in South Lake Tahoe this New Year's Eve. SnowGlobe has curated a lineup in 2018 that will make your head spin. While the festival nailed down world-class talent such as Eric Prydz, Above & Beyond, and RL Grime, it would be a sin to not take a look at the undercard of this masterful list of artists.
SnowGlobe has perfectly snatched artists across all genres of electronic music including everything from bass and trap to house and trance. A series of delicious B2Bs pepper this line up such as AC Slater B2B Wax Motif, Chris Lake B2B Walker & Royce, and NGHTMRE B2B SLANDER. If those don't get your blood pumping then consider the several indulgent up and comers SnowGlobe has brought on this year.
Twitch streaming icon and quickly rising production superstar Cray graces the lineup as well as the mysterious 1788-L who is making head spins all over the world with their signature brand of dark, ominous bass. In short, no other festival can compare to the wide range of genre inclusion that SnowGlobe has worked so hard to create for their 2018 edition.
3. THE BROWNIES & LEMONADE TAKEOVER
If you are not familiar with Brownies and Lemonade, this bullet point might leave you scratching your head a little bit. No, I am not talking about the baked good and citrus beverage, I am talking about the country's most exciting event production company and talent collective.
Having gotten their start with curated parties in Los Angeles, Brownies and Lemonade have quickly become a global force in dance music. Hosting stages at Ultra Music Festival and EDC Las Vegas, as well as hosting parties in NYC, Japan, and all over the West Coast, Brownies and Lemonade have cracked the code for selling out events.

4. The Social Good You Will Help Make Happen
SnowGlobe is of course, first and foremost, a music festival. That being said, SnowGlobe does a whole lot of good outside the realm of partying. This year SnowGlobe has a few corporate social responsibility programs that are worth shedding some light on.
SnowGlobe is partnering with Imperfect Produce again this year. The organization helps bring fresh food to those struggling in the Lake Tahoe basin. Last year the partnership helped provide over 500 pounds of produce to those in need. We are thrilled to see the festival and this charity working together again.
Last year the festival partnered with The Sugar Pines Foundation to plant over 200 new pine trees. The trees planted now make up over 5% of the entire Lake Tahoe forest. This year, the festival has doubled their standard and is working to plant 400 trees. While no festival can leave zero impact on the environment it operates in, SnowGlobe is doing all it can to make sure it gives back to the landscape which welcomes it each December.
5. Moments Like This…
If there is one thing that will give you intense FOMO when it comes to SnowGlobe it is the moment the year ends, and a new one begins. Being part of the crowd while the countdown begins, and watching thousands kiss, celebrate, hug, forget the past, and be inspired by the future to a soundtrack all your own is nothing short of perfection.
