Illenium has had the kind of year in 2018 that most producers will only ever dream of enjoying. While Illenium broke into the world of bass music with his beautiful melodic and emotional productions nearly two years ago, over the 12 months, the young producer has racked up some serious achievements. In his latest release, ‘God Damnit', Illenium has teamed up with Call Me Karizma for his first attempt at EDM rap.
Illenium & Call Me Karizma – ‘God Damnit'
The lines between dance music and rap have been steadily blurring more and more recently. Artists such as Steve Aoki have worked to bring talented rappers into the industry with genre-bending tunes. Illenium took a more subtle approach incorporating rap into ‘God Damnit' by relying on traditional vocals and his signature style of melodic elements.
Overall, this record is exactly where the hybrid of EDM and rap should aim towards. It brings the best of both worlds in beautifully without sacrificing the soul of either genre. Bravo to Illenium for a successful first attempt into this still emerging crossover genre. Check out the tune below.
