What I have enjoyed watching over the last few years is the constant blending of genres electronic producers have been championing. In 2018, rap and hip-hop saw more crossover with EDM than ever before. Last year, saw the highest amount of pop stars tapping dance music producers to make their productions.
Let's not forget the first time dance music saw a crossover with folk and country though! Five years ago at Ultra 2013, Avicii debuted what would become his biggest hit of all time ‘Wake Me Up'. Since then more artists have worked to incorporate unexpected elements into their electronic productions.
While many dance artists have stepped up to genre blending, we rarely get to see artists working outside of EDM take on covers of dance songs. A few weeks ago during his performance at Barclay's Center, country icon Kieth Urban decided to cover Tiesto and Post Malone's Summer anthem – ‘Jackie Chan'. Honestly with a bit of country twang – this tune isn't half bad! Check out the clip of the cover below.
