As dance music continues to grow in popularity among the mainstream population of the United States, major media entities are continuing to show interest in the once niche industry. Today, MTV has announced it is expanding its reach in global events by acquiring SnowGlobe Music Festival. A move that nobody saw coming, but upon some reflection, the buyout makes a lot of sense.
SnowGlobe Joins The MTV Family
SnowGlobe takes place in the scenic city of South Lake Tahoe tucked in the Mountains of Central California. The festival is surrounded by some of the finest Ski Mountains in the US, as well as the iconic Lake Tahoe.
SnowGlobe at its heart is an electronic music festival but it would be unwise to limit the event to only EDM. SnowGlobe has welcomed dozens of artists across multiple genres since its inception. Outside of EDM, rappers like Post Malone and Kendrick Lamar have graced the stages of SnowGlobe as well as indie groups such as Phantogram. In addition to music, SnowGlobe hosts a Big Air action sports demonstration next to its main stage and several live art exhibits as well.
Ambitious Plans To Exapnd
MTV and its parent company Viacom value everything that makes SnowGlobe so incredibly unique. In a press release, MTV explained that its acquisition of SnowGlobe comes with some ambitious plans. The festival will be part of MTV's NYE countdown in addition to its home base in NYC's Time Square. As for the next few years, MTV will be expanding the SnowGlobe brand with additional dates and cities for the festival in 2019 and beyond.
Tickets are still left for SnowGlobe 2018, but they are going fast and WILL SELL OUT. If you have been on the fence about attending, let this be the moment you decide. Tickets can be purchased here.
