Aweminus (pronounced ominous) is becoming one of bass music's most promising emerging artists. He came onto the scene in 2012 when clips from songs like “Viper” and “The Beast” circulated YouTube. Now, Aweminus just released his newest EP “Riddim 4 Dummies” last week and has the dubstep community shook.
Aweminus isn't solely a riddim/dubstep DJ but it's where he has gotten most of his recognition from the start.
“[I started gaining] recognition on the internet and eventually getting booked for shows. People started to put my style of Dubstep into this Riddim category that popped up at some point in 2012/2013,” says Aweminus.
This EP definitely lines up with the riddim spectrum while showing Aweminus' own unique sound. DJs such as Oolacile and Subtronics have been raving and supporting the emerging DJ. Oolacile called him the “king of dubstep” while Subtronics said, “More people should be freaking out at how insanely good the new @AweminusDub EP is.” We couldn't agree more.
“My goal with music right now is to show everyone the different styles and genres of electronic music that I make and hopefully they enjoy it as much as I do,” says Aweminus.
“Riddim 4 Dummies” consists of four wonky and heavy tracks. “The title track ‘Riddim 4 Dummies’ was kind of a joke because it’s a pretty simple tune compared to what most people are making these days, dubstep wise,” says Aweminus. While it might be simple to him, we think it's pretty mindblowing.
This is Aweminus' second EP of the year, but the one that just might change everything.
