In one of the most surprising news stories of the week, Atlanta advocate and rapper 21 Savage apparently isn’t from ATL at all, but actually may be from the U.K. and only moved to Georgia in 2005, where his via supposedly expired the following year in 2006. As of two days ago, Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph (aka 21 Savage) has been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is still locked up. The news is so unexpected to most because 21 was such a hardcore advocate for Atlanta, so stay tuned for more updates on the case. See a quote below from the Attorney who reps 21 Savage (Dina Lapolt):
“We are working diligently to get Mr. Abraham-Joseph out of detention while we work with authorities to clear up any misunderstanding. Mr. Abraham-Joseph is a role model to the young people in the country — especially in Atlanta, Georgia and is actively working in the community leading programs to help underprivileged youths in financial literacy.”
