What a week for Porter Robinson. Last week he kicked off 2019 with Virtual Self shows at Exchange LA, hinted at the release of a new alias with an interview in GQ Japan, and even attended his first ever Grammy Awards as an official nominee. There is a lot to unpack here, so let's get started.
New Virtual Self
Porter sold out Exchange LA on both Thursday and Saturday of last week. Everything we have seen and heard about the show demonstrates that 2019 will be another gigantic year for Porter's favorite side project.
Fans were even treated to a new single from Porter during his performances, a song called ‘God Rays'. It falls in line with our Virtual Self releases with an intense, high energy/BPM melody and tons of euphoric, sky-high moments.

New Alias In The Works?
Porter once again is making waves by further expanding his brand with a seemingly new alias. In an interview with GQ Japan, Porter explained that he is working on a new project. This would bring his alias count to three, starting to rival even Eric Prydz.
What will this new project sound like? Is it a collaborative effort? When can we expect to hear it? Well only time will tell, as for right now, everyone is still very much in the dark.
A Night At The Grammy's
Porter Robinson was nominated for his Virtual Self track ‘Ghost Voices'. While Silk City brought home the honor, the nomination alone means a lot for Porter.
Many might remember how hard Porter Robinson worked on the first Virtual Self releases. He has explained countless times that the music he has been releasing as Virtual Self is that which he is most passionate about.
Even without a win, the nomination demonstrates to Porter that his passion project is leaving a powerful impact on the dance music industry as a whole. To say that we love Mr. Robinson would be a huge understatement. We cannot wait to see (and hear) what comes next from Porter as 2019 continues.
