After the long awaited and much anticipated announcement of Ultra Music Festival‘s return to Miami in 2019 – the residents and local officials of Virginia Key (where Ultra Music Festival 2019 will take place) were not all too thrilled. Many residents and local government officials spoke out against Ultra Music Festival taking place at Virginia Key and mentioned their environmental, safety and structural concerns.
In order to help combat some of the city's concerns, Ultra Music Festival has released their “Mission:Home” environmental initiative. “Mission:Home” is an environmental initiative aiming to spread awareness and educate festivalgoers on creating a litter and pollution free environment in Virginia Key during the Ultra Music Festival weekend. Virginia Key is home to unique flora and fauna and abundant sea life. The festival's initiatives are definitely a step in the right direction in helping to educate and provide some environmental protection.
