Tonner is the shadowy indie pop alter ego of singer-songwriter-producer, Matthew Tonner. The Florida based artist recently teamed up with SALES member Jordan Shih on a song called “Criminal” and now he is back with another single that is even funkier entitled “Train To Paris”. The clear funk influence here reminds me of some early music by French House legends Justice, which keeps me coming back for more. “Train to Paris” is out now, give it a spin below keep your eyes on Tonner!
“Lyrically, this one is super personal. I literally can’t talk about it without putting people on blast. It’s about going through personal betrayal and coming out the other side better for it. Sometimes you have to go all the way to the other side of the world to rediscover yourself. In my case, I suffered a huge loss, and soon after had the opportunity to travel to France. There I found an incredible adventure, new love, and eventually was able to channel all of the experiences, good and bad, into this song.” – Tonner
