“Memories” is a song that I used to love when it first came out. Not only was it an early collaboration between the EDM and Hip Hop space (2009) but it was a song about good times, with an overall positive, Summer like vibe to it. When I clicked play on this remix by Dawg I was hesitant for a few reasons but mainly because remixing a classic is not an easy thing to do. Luckily, he flipped the original on it's ass and took it to a much more sinister and dark trappy vibe. The gritty ominous instrumentation really takes lead on this one, while the vocals will always be classic but to hear “Memories” in such a different light was something I was not planning on listening to today. Check out a quote from Dawg on his remix below and below that stream his latest remix!
“After hearing the Scotts record I was inspired to flip a Cudi joint and put Travis adlibs over it. And since Memories was a dance record originally, it felt like a unique and dope song to redo with a hip hop vibe” – Dawg
