The protagonist is instantly drawn to the charismatic and carefree boy they meet one summer, but as time goes on, they start to see the cracks in his facade. The boy is selfish and manipulative, and only seems to care about himself. The protagonist tries to ignore these red flags, but eventually they reach their breaking point. They realize that they deserve better than someone who only cares about themselves, and they decide to walk away. While it can be hard to let go of someone you love, sometimes it’s necessary in order to find happiness.
