To quote a public comment on the track, “It's got that modern appeal, but still has a soul,” and I could not agree more. In ten words, that comment sums up exactly how I feel about “Smile” by 8 Graves.
It's a future bass bop, and sure, that's “modern appeal” conformity, but only to an extent because “Smile” was so much more. 8 Graves called the track “future grunge” and I hear that sound these guys were going for. It's got grime with the basslines, and the vocals… real emotion.
I'm loving this release by 8 Graves and I can't wait to hear more. Listen to “Smile” below!
