Deadmau5 has been teasing his upcoming orchestral album for over a month now. He even played out one orchestral edit of his masterpiece ‘Strobe' during a performance at the intimate, Belly Up Aspen. Fans have been ravenous for more details on the upcoming album and if the reworks would transfer to a new live show.

Today all our questions and more have been answered. Deadmau5 will be releasing his new album exclusively on Tidal on March 30th. Many fans immediately took issue with this exclusive release, as well…literally, nobody uses Tidal. In classic Mau5 fashion, Joel lashed back and explained that the album would be available on all streaming platforms after a short period of exclusivity.

What's more is that Deadmau5 and Tidal have announced a one-time collaborative live performance of the album with a full orchestra in Los Angeles on April 1st. Tidal members will be able to purchase tickets on March 7th (today) and those new to the service will receive a free 90 day trial of Tidal if they sign up to buy tickets. “On Sunday, April 1, TIDAL invites you to join electronic music icon deadmau5 at the legendary Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
At TIDAL X: deadmau5 “where’s the drop?”, the prolific artist will be joined by a full orchestra to perform his music as orchestral pieces re-envisioned by musical director Gregory Reveret.
Today, March 7, TIDAL is granting members access to the event’s exclusive ticket presale and non-members a special 90-day free trial upon signing up to access the presale. Fans who are not able to attend the show can watch from the comfort of their homes as TIDAL livestreams the performance.
Beyond the Wiltern, deadmau5 and the aforementioned Reveret have more in store for fans. Set for a March 30 release, their collaborative where’s the drop? LP will share 17 orchestral songs that the duo recorded in the famed EastWest Studios in Hollywood and be released exclusively on TIDAL.
where’s the drop? originally began as a project called 7, a series of songs that deadmau5 produced in 2014 which was based around the Seven Deadly Sins and one that he desired to produce on a full orchestral scale. In meeting Reveret during a “mau5trap Mondays” Twitch session, where deadmau5 listens and critiques fans music for charity, he found someone that could properly score the music for an orchestra to execute. where’s the drop? realizes the dream to life.
