Last night Lil Uzi Vert who had an absolutely, insanely massive year in 2017 bailed on his performance at Buku in New Orleans. Just about no reason was given for why he decided to not attend his scheduled performance, but Buku made it known that they were not happy.
On the Power Plant stage where Lil Uzi Vert was scheduled to perform, they posted up a message (which featured some inexplicable spelling errors) explaining that the rap artist would not be playing. The festival went on to say that they would be donating a percentage of his performance fee to Upbeat Academy Foundation.
EDM artist Gryffin took the stage instead for the 8pm to 9pm set and by all accounts really brought the house down with a ramped up production. According to the festival Lil Uzi Vert did not attend because “He Would Just Not Leave Philadelphia”…being a Philly native, I can safely say – while the city is pretty awesome by all accounts – after 2 Nor'Easterns in the same week, there is truly no reason to stay in Philly for that long. Fans were not happy as he was a major headliner for the festival, but the show goes on.
