Last week Pegboard Nerds broke the freaking internet when they played out Skrillex's remix of Pendulums biggest hit, ‘The Island Pt. 1' in their EDC Las Vegas Set. While many were aware that the remix did exist, it had been buried in the news of Pendulum returning with a brand new remix LP that featured edits from the likes of Knife Party.
Pendulum – The Island Pt. 1 (Skrillex Remix)
While fans were obviously ecstatic to hear the snippet of the remix, many were curious if it would, in fact, end up seeing the light of day through an official release. Now Pendulum has taken to social media to confirm that the Skrillex remix of ‘The Island' will be dropping very shortly.
While the original has become one of the most recognizable vocal samples in all of EDM, Skrillex sounds like he has breathed new life into the classic. He has taken an unexpected Future Bass twist in his remix. While many anticipated something absurdly heavy, Skrill has demonstrated that sometimes the best option a producer has is to defy expectations.
Check out the announcement from Pendulum below, and the snippet from Pegboard Nerds as well.
