Calvin Harris is not enjoying any downtime as 2018 begins to wrap up. After taking over the world with his hit record with Sam Smith, ‘Promises', Calvin is back in action today with two new singles alongside Normani. The collaborative tracks are steeped in funk, soul and R&B vibes.
First off is the Checklist featuring Wizkid. This funky little tune includes an inspired verse with reggaeton influences. The choppy piano chords and steady kick drum bass immediately set a mood that will transport you to another time and place. The closing track to the two-song effort is ‘Slow Down'.
The latter of the two songs begins with a melancholy groove before diving into a driving, upbeat verse. The track shifts into a more sultry, soulful verse before a whining short instrumental section that adds an unexpected element of groove to this three and a half minute escape from reality.
More New Music On The Way
Calvin Harris got his start by singing on most of his tracks featured on his first two albums, I Created Disco and Ready For The Weekend. After his release, 18 Months>/em>, it was pretty rare to find Calvin singing vocals on any tracks. His friend and longtime collaborator, Benny Blanco, seems to have finally convinced him to get back on the Mic.
The new collaborative single between the pair will drop November 2nd, so be on the lookout for that one as well! Check out the new EP with Normani and the announcement from Benny below.
