The Magician is an artist who truly does not the attention which he deserves. Between his impeccable Dad-oriented fashion and his irresistible take on modern day house music, The Magician is a true gem of the dance music community. After a year full of releases featuring a range of vocalists, The Magician has teamed up with Kideko for an instrumental house tune that is, without a doubt, one of 2018's best.
The Magician & Kideko – ‘Jalisco'
Jalisco is the name of a region of Mexico. It also colloquially means being absolutely plastered. I am gonna take a stab and assume these guys intended this track to be an ode to the colloquial meaning of the word. The tune is a throwback to early 2010's house. Its opening horn section and driving beat will instantly evoke memories of Chris Lake's iconic record, ‘La Tromba'.
The Magician and Kideko don't just rely on throwback elements. Instead, they fill this absurdly catchy record with heaps of modern-day sex appeal. The banging and constant horn laid on top of a simple kick track with instrumentations and vocal chops thrown in at all the right times create for a wild ride.
This track is simply everything that is right in house music today and so much more. Check out ‘Jalisco' below, and stayed tuned from more sheer magic from…The Magician.
