In 1969 the world of music changed forever. Hundreds of thousands made the journey to Bethel Woods in Upstate New York for three full days of music and love. Of course, I am referring to the legendary Woodstock music festival. Where artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Janice Joplin took the stage as a peaceful chaos descended upon the small, quaint town of Bethel, NY.
The festival left a lasting cultural and musical impact that is still felt today. The festival held 25th and 30th anniversary editions which featured massively popular groups of the 90's. The events took place respectively in Saugerties and Rome, NY.
Bethel Woods was also home to Mysteryland USA when the festival existed from 2014-2016 before it was canceled in 2017, when LiveStyle, the spiritual successor to SFX made a massive blunder by attempting to rebrand the EDM festival to incorporate acts in all genres of music. Ticket sales were so low, it killed the young festival, which held massive potential.
Woodstock 50th Anniversary Edition
In an interview with the Poughkeepsie Journal, Michael Lang, who is one of the original promoters for Woodstock revealed that the 50th anniversary edition of Woodstock is quite close to being finalized.
When asked about an announcement regarding the anniversary festival he said: “These are plans. This is not a done deal yet. But it’s very close.”
Stay tuned for more information regarding this story. We are beyond excited to see Michael still working tirelessly to recreate the magic which occurred 50 years ago.
