Steve Aoki has teamed up with industry audio veterans to create a new headphone brand SVN Sound, announcing its launch with the new NEON 100's, an affordable pair of over the ear Bluetooth headphones with optional LED neon lighting effects on the ear-cups.

“We wanted to create a unique product that puts the consumer’s need first,” said James Peterson, Vice President of SVN Sound.  “We have combined incredible sound, Bluetooth functionality and very cool lighting effects into a reasonably priced headphone.“

Lighting

The lighting effects can be set to seven different neon colors – red, yellow, green, blue, white, turquoise & pink. The colors can be solid, pulsed, or put into the SVN color mode that pulses and cycles through all the colors in five-second increments.  The LED lighting can be set to a lower output level to extend battery life and playtime.

Personally, at first I didn't think that I would really use the lighting, but boy was I dead wrong. The neon's in the dark are extremely bright and you can see the pulsing off the colors off your walls making them extremely cool. The lighting is also a head turner while walking down the streets as I had 2 or 3 people stop and ask me what kind of headphones these were.

Battery

SVN states users can expect over 25 hours of music playtime and over 15 hours of music with lighting effects. While I didn't get to test the full limits of both, I have listened to them so far for about 12 hours with the lighting effects on and about 2 hours without light effects and the charge is still holding strong.

Sound

An audiophile quality 40mm polymer driver and bass optimized sound chamber deliver incredible bass, detailed midrange, and crisp and accurate highs. I was really impressed with the sound on these bad boys. I gave them a test run on Steve Aoki's new Neon Future III album and they passed the test. The bass absolutely THUMPED on “Hoovela”, the highs were on point on “Azukita”, and you can hear the voices of Lady Antebellum crystal clear in “Our Love Glows”.

Build / Comfort

The NEON 100 headphones are packed full of the latest headphone technology.  They utilize the Bluetooth 5.0 chipset to deliver the best sound quality and longest range possible from a wireless connection.  Volume up/down, call make/break and track forward/back controls, along with a noise-canceling Mic, are all located right on the headphone. Once your hand remembers where all the buttons are, these are very useful when you have your phone in your pocket or jacket.

“The headphone’s secure fit and comfort make them ideal for use in the gym or exercising indoors or outdoors,” says Peterson. “The noise-canceling Microphone and Bluetooth connectivity also make it perfect for hands-free phone calls at home or in open offices.”

Let me start off telling you that these may be the most comfortable headphones that I've ever put on my head. My main issue with most over the ear headphones is they are just too heavy and bulky, making using them at the gym or for long periods of time impossible, the NEON 100's are lightweight and are made of surprisingly high-quality material all around.

Overall

Overall, SVN Sound & Steve Aoki have hit the bullseye dead on with the NEON 100's. With over the top comfort, audiophile quality sound, eye-catching LED lighting effects & a price tag under $100, the NEON 100's are my pick for the must-have headphones this holiday season. If these are the first things to come from SVN, I'm excited to see what the future holds.
