EDMSauce Premiere: Prince Woods Releases Intriguing Single “I’ll Wait For You”

Prince Woods' latest single, “I'll Wait For You,” embodies the calm of winter with captivating progressions and laid-back rhythm. The release features an array of sonic atmospheres, nuanced percussive elements, syncopated guitar riffs, and the ethereal vocal. They combine each aspect to formulate a relaxing, mystical release which aptly bookends the year.

Josh and Alex of Prince Woods took the time out to chat with EDMSauce about beginnings, production, and moving to LA.

EDMSauce
When did the Prince Woods project start?

Josh and Alex (Prince Woods):
We started Prince Woods mid-2017 but we've been working together since middle school.

EDMSauce
How did your productions develop over time and how would you describe your sound today?

Josh and Alex (Prince Woods):
When we were teenagers, Avicii was our biggest inspiration. We started off making progressive/melodic house for a few years. Prince Woods was a way for us to move away from that scene and curate our own sound. Describing our sound is tough, but we are heavily influenced by early 2000s pop-punk and contemporary electronic music like San Holo and Whethan.

EDMSauce:
How did the support from Nike's workout playlist come about?

Josh and Alex (Prince Woods):
Our manager's do great work for us, and have been helping us out every step of the way. Shout out Thomas and Kosuke for that one…and JP, the best label rep in the game!

Josh and Alex (Prince Woods):
It feels great to be out here doing what we love. That traffic though.

EDMSauce:
What mission or message do you hope to deliver through your sound?

Josh and Alex (Prince Woods):
We just want to make people feel the way we felt when we first started listening to bands like Blink 182 and Jimmy Eat World. Their music impacted us a lot and we want to be that band for someone else.

EDMSauce:
What goals do you have for 2019?

Josh and Alex (Prince Woods):
We feel that there's an opportunity for electronic music as a genre to push boundaries creatively when it comes to video and visual content. We're working with some really talented artists that are gonna help us do that and bring something fresh to the scene.
Numbers aside, we'd love to be performing our music for our fans as much as possible (love you guys).
