Seven Lions, Trivecta, and Wooli have collaborated on The Island, released on Ophelia Records. Seven Lions comes fresh off the Journey II tour, another successful Chronicles Chapter at the historic Red Rocks, and the release of the Start Again EP which included the singles “After Dark” and “Dreamin.’”
Meanwhile, Sam “Hambone Willie” Dobkin took Trivecta to a new level last year. Sam’s year consisted of things like playing guitar in the “Sad Boi Band” which included MitiS, Dabin, Said the Sky, KJ Sawka let alone Illenium. If heavy is what you are looking for Trivecta was also seen on tour with Kill The Noise.
Wooli, who’s remix of Seven Lions and Blastoyz psytrance smash hit “After Dark” with Samplifire was his first appearance on the Ophelia label, also finds himself working with Trivecta again; the two released “Falling” on Monstercat last year.
The Island begins on the strong vocals by Nevve. The Nevve vocal collective had a banner year in 2018, with massive collaborations alongside Boombox Cartel, 3LAU, DROELOE, Madison Mars, Borgeous, and many more, all solidifying Nevve as one of the top electronic vocal projects in the world. Trivecta then lays a delicate guitar melody down. Soon after you hear classic Seven Lions arpeggios which build toward the first drop. A melodic masterpiece ensues. Synths bounce around crashing drums and just when you think the drop is reaching its shatterpoint Wooli slices that song into pieces. I will be the first to admit I am not a Riddim guy but dear lord do I love the second half of this drop. The timing is impeccable and the bass shreds like a samurai sword through a sheet of Dunder Mifflin paper. These three producers combine beauty, talent, and sheer rawness on what is most likely my favorite song of the year; he said in January. The song calms down just long enough for you to remember how amazing the performance by Nevve is and you are then whisked away to the final drop. Hambone Willie comes in to close out the song on the old six string.
The year is early and things are already looking up for all three gentlemen. I look forward to hearing any news about Chronicles Chapter III as well as any tour dates and or releases for Trivecta and Wooli. Listen to The Island below.
