One of the most exciting storylines of 2018 was that Woodstock would be celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new music festival. Rumors began to stir when organizers of the original 1969 festival started to leak that a new event was in the works. Since then the internet has been ablaze with rumors complete with fake lineups. Even the legendary guitarist Carlos Santana spoke up saying he would love to get invovled.
After a string of confirmations that an announcement was imminent, today we get more tanigble evidence that the event is really coming together. As 2018 closed out, all we knew for sure was that the event would be held in late August. Today, Woodstock announced the location of the 2019 anniversary event – Watkins Glen, New York.
This came as a surprise to some who expected the festival to be held at Bethel Woods, NY – the spot of the original festival, as well as Mysteryland USA (RIP). Watkins Glen is significantly farther upstate than Bethel and lies in the gorgeous Finger Lakes region of New York State.
