What is up dance music fans? Today we are extending our Artist of the Week series for yet another incredible, young, up and coming artist. Today we are featuring a Long Island native hailing by the name, Bigfoot.
The mastermind behind the project BIGFOOT is Joseph Gulotta, born in Long Island, New York. Currently 21 years of age, he has been involved with music since he was 8 years old. He played trombone throughout middle school and high school. He played in Jazz Ensembles and Pit Orchestras, showcasing his talents. When he was about 12 years old, he discovered dubstep for the first time. He instantly fell in love with the music. Shortly after, he discovered deadmau5.
He fell in love with deadmau5’s work ethic and creativity. To this day, deadmau5 remains his biggest inspiration. Feeling like an outcast his entire life, electronic music was always there to make him happy through the toughest of times. Joseph’s high school offered an Electronic Music class that he took for 2 years, solidifying his love for the art of music production. He was 14 at that time. For the next 7 years Joseph would continue to work on music production.
He was finally able to come up with the BIGFOOT idea at the age of 19 and spent the next 2 years coming up with project ideas. It wasn’t until his friend Chris Lypen the visual aspect of the project offered to help with graphics and visuals in order to bring the BIGFOOT concept to life. The two have worked really hard to roll out the idea in 2020.
BIGFOOT is coming out of hiding to make waves in the bass music scene. There is no time better than now. With his angry basslines and filthy leads, the listener will be submerged in a world of sonic sound and unique visuals. ‘Sightings’ is the debut track to this project, which was independently released on July 10th, 2020. This track is the first of many to be released throughout the rest of 2020, highlighting what’s to come.
The inspiration behind this project is pretty straightforward.
“I wanted to bring the mythological Bigfoot story to life through music. Dubstep and Drum and Bass in particular.”
Through heavy basslines and screeching leads BIGFOOT is to be portrayed as an angry beast. ‘Sightings’ is meant to be an introduction track for the project with future releases continuing the story while using references to real life Bigfoot sightings and events. You can expect a new release once a month on Spotify, SoundCloud, Amazon Music and elsewhere. It’s time for BIGFOOT to be seen and heard by everyone.
