Mark Cuban has been one of my all-time role models for a couple of years now. For those of you who aren't familiar with Mark Cuban, he is a serial-entrepreneur who has worked in the technology sector, angel investing and also the owner of the Dallas Mavericks.
Mark Cuban is one of the financial backers behind the Dublin-based Soundwave, which is a music discovery app that tracks your listening habits of you, your friends and other users you follow. In just 2 and a half weeks, Soundwave has collected over 165,000 downloads.
Soundwave takes big data from your phone's native music player as well as songs played on services like Spotify and Rdio. Soundwave's CEO, Brendan O'Driscoll says that “the value and size of our data has really excited the Music Industry. Our ability to create a ‘Bloomberg Terminal or Google Analytics for music’ has massive potential.”
