Up until now, Richie Hawtin has only played Las Vegas at EDC, but the minimal house and techno DJ finally feels that it's the right time for a solo show in Sin City. Hawtin has been waiting a long time for this opportunity, but Vegas had to be ready too. In a recent article with Las Vegas Weekly, he stated that “The worst thing that can happen is if you do something too early. How terrible would it be to come for a performance and the crowd before you is just not ready for the type of music you play? I want to play a crowd who are open-minded and ready to hear something a bit different than perhaps they've been exposed to so far, and hopefully now is that time”. The experimental set will take place this weekend at Marquee, a club known to host DJs such as Kaskade, Chuckie, and Benny Benassi. The techno legend hopes that the set will open doors for more opportunities in Vegas. He states “This gig wil hopefully be our first step, putting our big (or small) toe into the musical waters of Vegas to get the temperature of the local scene and then make our next plans!”. If all goes well it looks like Las Vegas may soon be a new destination for USA‘s techno fans who are craving more.
