This past year there seems to be a new music festival announced every weekend, leading to a status quo. Lightning in a Bottle (LIB) does everything it can to break the mold to create a unique experience. LIB takes place over memorial day week in the San Antonia Recreation Area in Bradley, CA. It describes itself as “a celebration of Art, Sustainability, Music, Performance, and Life Itself.” What started out as a private birthday party in 2000 and turned into a public festival in 2004 is now going into its 15th year.
Lightning in a Bottle pushes itself “to be a greater expression each year.” The festival combines live music and art, as well as speakers and workshops on sustainability, spirituality and the environment. Much like Burning Man, the festival focuses on leaving the land as it was before the event began. This different approach to the summer festival experience has LED to LIB winning the Outstanding Greener Festival Award, now 3-years in a row.
While Lightning in a Bottle features many local upcoming musicians its line up last year also included well known acts such as Rusko, Emancipator, Panty Raid and The Polish Ambassador. Pre-sale tickets go on sale at Lightning in a Bottle's Official Website for $225 on February 18th. If you miss the pre-sale then general admission camping pass sales start the next day at 10am for $260.
