An unlikely partnership arose when Sea-Doo (top watercraft manufacturer in the world) teamed up with Deadmau5 to be the promotional frontman for their fantastic new watercraft called the Spark. On top of slapping the Deadmau5 logo on their promotional ads, they threw down a badass product launch party on March 23rd called Spark Some Fun, with an exclusive 2-hour set from the Mau5 himself.
I jumped at the chance to cover the event. I mean… who wouldn't want to see an exclusive Deadmau5 set for a select number of people? Not to mention the party was held at the world famous Fontainebleau Hotel‘s oceanside event space, exactly where club Liv throws down their wild Ocean Club shows. To gain entry, you had to enter a raffle online and pray you were 1 of the 500 chosen to attend. Or you could post a picture of one of the many promo events around Miami with the hashtag #SparkSomeFun to win tickets.

The event itself was first-class, showcasing Sea-Doo's ingenuity with their unique design of the Spark. In every direction were the vibrant colors used for the Spark promotional material, from the VIP area, to the out-of-this-world live art installation by graffiti artist David Garibaldi.

Sparks were on display for spectators to check out for themselves. I couldn't help but snap a few pictures with myself on top. The stage featured with a signature Deadmau5 setup, surrounded by two perfectly placed Sparks. Probably is the only time I will see a DJ setup like that…
After an hour of hanging around and enjoying the festivities, I grabbed my complimentary pair of glow-in-the-dark signature Mau5 ears and headed for the stage. By 9:00 pm, Deadmau5 could be spotted getting ready. He threw down a great 2-hour set filled with classics like”Ghosts N Stuff”, “Strobe“, and “The Veldt”. I was even more blown away by some of his newer material, of which should appear on his upcoming album which he claims is “ready to fucking go.”

All in all, I feel blessed to have attended such an exclusive event with one of my favorite DJ's as the special guest. A big thanks to Sea-Doo for not only a great time, but for time and time again raising the bar with quality personal Watercrafts that everyone enjoys. Whether you have that chance to rent one or own one, there won't be a moment that isn't filled with thrill and excitement while out on the water with a Spark. Same goes for a Deadmau5 set, as you are guaranteed a quality performance every time. What at first seemed like an unusual pairing now seems to be appropriate given the similar qualities both sides have in common.
