After tweeting about how he was planning on releasing a new track for free, Figure decided that the mutual anticipation for it was too much to ignore, and opted to release it today. “Infinite Lives” is another rare case of Figure's trap side, and opens with smooth bass, fast hi-hat patterns and crisp 808 claps. At the buildup, an arpeggiated analog lead comes in which brings back memories of all the melodies you'd hear in the middle of an arcade. Figure then starts playing around with the synths further throughout the song, including throwing in some spastic oscillation, 8-bit explosion noises, and more video-game-inspired fills. Overall, the song may inspire you to turn up just as much as it may inspire you to collect all the quarters you have and go play Galaga for a while.
Also: following up on his release of “Infinite Lives,” Figure tweeted that he's got plenty more tunes coming up in the near future, so consider this song the first of numerous courses that Figure will serve up for you.
And then another one the next week. That and I have a couple new monsters done and some random singles I think are cool
