Sir Elton John and the Elton John AIDS Foundation are inaugurating a new fund named the Frankie Knuckles Fund; a special fund, it will honor the late Grammy-winning Frankie Knuckles – an iconic dance music legend. The Frankie Knuckles Fund hopes to assist black communities in the United States and the United Kingdom suffering from HIV. By using donations the fund receives, resources can be created and used to support research and development for HIV testing and treatments. The fund will raise awareness on the crucial need for information and assistance in black communities struggling with the disease.
Frankie Knuckles passed away late last month due to complications with his diabetes. He was a star in the dance music scene in Chicago since the 1970s, and as the dance music movement grew stronger, so did his global impact. For more information click here.
