Whether they bonded over their similar caustic demeanor on social media or for being seasoned producers who put their money where their mouths are artistically, Kill The Noise and Mat Zo have been enjoying each other's company for quite some time now. With their summer tour, entitled “Kill The Zo,” kicking off today in San Francisco, they also took today to reveal their first collaboration track, “Part I.”
The drum ‘n bass tempo'd track starts off with smooth, trappy sub-bass and cleanly-chopped glitch synths. The signature Kill The Noise buildup comes soon, where menacing glitch growls call forth the next drop, bringing discordant noises and more glitch. When the next break comes, KtN and Mat Zo flood the track with melody, bringing a distant piano line and electric guitars in the fold. Another buildup brings back the beckon of electro growls, and the next drop ushers in a cut-throat, hard-hitting drum ‘n bass verse. As the beat soon smooths out from the mangled glitch swells, the outro brings in a righteous, trance-inspired rush of warm Synth leads and pads.
Listen to it for yourself so you can understand why the answer to the question “what's better than a track made by one brilliant producer?” is “a track made by two brilliant producers.”
