It is impossible to think of Detroit without making that mental leap to the auto industry. Just like it is impossible to forget Detroit in the development of electronic music. Both are so ingrained in the history and culture of Detroit, it only makes sense there is still inspiration to be found between both industries. In honor of last weeks Movement festival, Ford joined forces with Paxahau and brought electronic musicians Ataxia and Secrets on a tour of an assembly plant. Their goal was to let the artists walk about the assembly lines in order to gain some inspiration. It’s safe to say they found it. If you listen closely, the hum, buzz, and click of the assembly line are iconic electronic sounds. You can get lost imagining how these warehouse sounds could have seeped through the minds of hard working individuals and to inspire great music. For Ataxia and Secrets, it is clear that they too were inspired. Get ready for tingles of Detroit pride.
