Last week was filled with some great music. Starting off on Wednesday was Party on the Patio Featuring Pilar Cote. Kicking off the night was J. Clark the Groovemaster. J. Clark, as usual, got the audience in just the right mood with his infectious stage presence and music choice. If you came to the event feeling a little peckish, no worries, there was also some free BBQ being grilled for attending music aficionados.
Spinning next was DJ Nightfall. It was the first time I've heard this local DJ play and he did a great Job. He picked up where J. Clark Groovemaster left off, with a very smooth transition, and then ramping it up a notch with some sexy house tunes.
It was a pleasure to meet Pilar Cote, and to watch her perform live. She was as energetic in person as she is in the booth. Blending new vivacious sounds with old classics which filled you with nostalgia. I couldn't get enough, that's for sure.
Final Thoughts
A great night filled with talented artists, good food, and a crowd that appreciates good music.
Thursday Night:
Thursday night was a special night at the Necto with the launch of a monthly event called GSpot Events, who brought in the artist from Girls Gone Vinyl. This event aims to support local artists and communities in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area through music. Girls Gone Vinyl is an amazing organization made up of skilled DJs and producers who are actively proving that the only difference between a man and a women DJing/producing is hard work and the passion they have for music.
Opening up the night was DJ Holographic, a local DJ who has been increasing popular in both the Ann Arbor and Detroit area. Delivering some funk, house sounds to all those attending. Following up DJ Holographic was Emily Thornhill, aka Thornstryker and Cash4Gold. I was pretty lucky to capture one of my favorite moments of the night, which was when Cash4Gold and Thornstryker played together, filling the stage and dance floor with contagious energy. Check out he video below and you'll know what i'm taking about.
Final Thought
Every artist I've seen so far who have a connection with Girls Gone Vinyl have been able to make the crowd dance till closing. Thursday night just added to why I love Girls Gone Vinyl and the DJs who support it even more. If you have the chance to attend a Girls Gone Vinyl or a GSpot events, you will be filled with the need to dance.
