If you're looking for the funkiest EP of the summer, you'll be hard pressed to find anything more diverse and fresh than “Look But Don't Touch” by Branx, his latest release off Gramatik‘s label Lowtemp.
Hooking you from the first track, “Sauce” sounds like Daft Punk tried to make a slow jam that makes you feel dirty. The slowed down, funky rhythm is something out of this world. A few cool vocals are meshed into this one to give it a little soul. It's hard to define this one, but let's just call it future disco meets Haywyre funk.
This EP is truly a journey. “Smoove Operator” takes on some 80's vibes and chill drum and bass while tracks like “Watermelon Bubblegum” has traces of GRiZ anthem funk meshed with heavy change ups and dubstep sounds for a wild tune.
There are two collaborations on here as well with EXMAG (“Pellegrino Sweat”) and Russ Liquid (“Deluxe”) which both feature some unique, relaxing disco-jazz grooviness.
