The American DJ/producer Wolfgang Gartner blacked out his social media profiles this past Friday night.
On Twitter, Wolfgang Gartner wrote “I'm Out” and then deleted all of his previous tweets. He then uploaded a blacked out silhouette as his social media profile image to both his Facebook and Twitter.
While we're not really sure why Wolfgang has decided to black out his profiles, Wolfgang has been very vocal on the next generation of electronic music as the “EDM apocalypse.”
Wolfgang said in an interview that “There are a ton of reasons I don’t make underground house anymore. First and foremost, it’s underground. I got tired of living beneath the surface. I wanted my music to get more exposure and reach more people, I felt it deserved it, and there was no way to do that without changing the music.” Did his change to gain more exposure bum him out enough to quit music? Or is it simply a marketing tactic to stir up interest for a future release? Whatever the case may be, we'll make sure to keep an eye on what is next for Wolfgang Gartner in the upcoming months.
