Here's the must-have album of 2014 for the progressive house and electro fans. Swedish producer Linus Eklow is the real deal. You know him as Style of Eye, one half of Galantis, and his reputation has grown exponentially in the past year with both projects. Finally he's released a 12-track collection of his work and it's a classic album that has “wow” factor in every track. “Footprints” has familiar tunes like “The Game,” “After Dark” with Tom Staar, “Kids,” and “Love Looks” with Lars (the other half of Galantis).
The rest of “Footrpints” is refreshing and unique, we really see why Eklow is a master of his craft. “We Will Never Die” featuring Grizzly is a gutsy dark-based track that turns into progressive house and has some real nostalgia at its core. Meanwhile, “Take Your Time” is soulful, deep song that features some amazing vocals from Anna Stahl. “Like You” experiments with plucks and goes all over the place from festival banger house to melbourne bounce. Anthems like “Sweetest Heartache” featuring Michael Zitron come back to the melodic roots with flavor. This one is an unsuspecting masterpiece with a special melody that is quite simple but beautifully layered and meshed with Zitron's compelling voice.
Eklow says of the album:
“I've used my experience from when I was assisting pop producers back in the 90's to compose ‘Footrpints.' It's not only about focusing on the tracks and beats but about finding a balance within each song…digging that little deeper and finding out, what should this song really say. That has enabled me to get where I wanted to be.”
