Flying out of Mutants Records in the festive aftermath is the monster of a tune “Riot”, fresh from the studio of John Dahlback. Dropped as a free download as part of the “12 Days of Dahlback”, we see the Swede bring back the dirtier synths in ferocious manner through an explosion of white noise and solid thumping kicks.
This sound is a lot different to recent work such as his huge collaboration with Kaskade, however the breakdown does offer a brief getaway to the calmer, more elegant writing as a simplistic melody shines bright through shimmering synths that mature into one of those reach for the lasers moments.
This seems a fitting end to another successful year for John Dahlback. You can pick up “Riot” here.
