Legendary DJ/Producer EDX recently made his way down to Miami Beach and I made sure to be there front and center. Instead of playing one of the mega-clubs like Mansion or Story, he put his talents on display at the intimate Wall Lounge located at the W Hotel in Miami Beach. Wall is a small scale club fitted with a booming sound system, laser light walls and a massive DJ both. The entire venue is basically a 4000 sq. ft. VIP section.
The style and production of EDX has continued to evolve over the years, always leaning toward his signature deep house sound but not afraid to venture into the progressive. He crafted his setlist to match the same criteria of his style, starting us off with some big room progressive tunes like Alesso‘s chart topper “Heroes” and Audien's remix of “Pompeii”. He had us right where he wanted when he decided to venture into deeper territory, dropping a bevy of originals and remixes including his emotional epic “Breathin'”, his blissful track “Make Me Feel Good”, and his latest remix of Nora En Pure & Sons of Maria's “Uruguay”. What makes an EDX set so special is his versatility with sub genres and artist selection. One minute he's building you up with an energy packed Galantis track, and the next he's taking you deep with Destructo and Oliver Heldens.
EDX felt perfectly at home as he carelessly spun a 2-hour set in the early hours of the morning. His ability to bridge the gap between progressive and deep house has brought him success over his many years of producing and DJing ever since the 90's. This is a man who has lasted the test of time in an industry that is always evolving. I encourage everyone to tap in to EDX's impressive catalogue of originals and remixes, and do not miss your chance to check him out live at a venue near you in the future.
