LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The tenth annual Lightning in a Bottle music and arts festival presents The Village and its theme for this year: “Home is Where Our Stories Live.” The Village is a place where festivalgoers can gather to learn about traditional earth-based knowledge and skills and how to honor and integrate them into modern life. It is a home away from home, where all are welcomed and are given the opportunity to connect with each other and the sacred land on which we gather.
Lightning in a Bottle is a festival that celebrates art, music, performance, sustainability and life, taking place Memorial Day Weekend (May 21 – 25, 2015) in the San Antonio Recreation Area in Bradley, CA, with a phenomenal musical lineup that includes Flume, SBTRKT, Panda Bear, Odesza, RL Grime, and over 300 more musicians and artists.
The Village features an array of inspirational speakers, such as Wind Creek Yavapai elder Grandmother Marza Millar, one of the last grandmothers of the Wind Creek Yavapai in Sedona, Arizona, as well as activist and alchemical healing teacher Kalita Todd who will share her 45 years of experience in the organic farm and food co-op movements and how to affect change.
Additional speakers and teachers at The Village include Erik Davis, Elizabeth Dougherty, Jennifer Dumpert, Justin Veris, Jai Dev Singh, La Gilman, Naha Amady, Special Blackburn, Ryan Roots Rising, Eve Bradford, Isis Indriya, Kara Seymour, Zeile August Dougher, Schirin Diba, Jim Kane, Olaf Vali Duna, Judicael Vales, Kris D, Gina Marie, Natalia Price, Lief Wold, Monica Satos “Magick”, Aradia Sunseri, I.Am.Life Tea Service, and Sound is Medicine with Priya D. The Village Features Four Main Areas to Explore…
The Community Lodge contains an art gallery, tea and elixir lounge, and the primary speaker and workshop zone. The Sacred Fire is the heart of the Village, with daily sunset ceremonies led by Village elders to offer gratitude at the close of each day. This will also host the Opening and Closing ceremonies for the entire festival on Thursday and Monday respectively. The Ancestral Arts Arbor is home to a wide variety of hands-on classes featuring traditional earth-based skills, such as fire by friction, carving, cloud reading, and leather crafts. The House of the Mystics offers an intimate space specifically for delving deeper into the realms of intuition building and mystical practices such as psychic protection, tarot, subtle body anatomy and an introduction to ritual practice.
Lightning in a Bottle stands as the only music and arts festival in the U.S. to receive the “Outstanding Award” by The Greener Festival for its significant sustainability practices and efforts to share and spread the knowledge to participants and the larger community.
