“The Wrecking Crew,” directed by Denny Tedesco, explores some of the biggest hit records in the history of music by a group of artists who played the final recordings of a number of hit records in their sessions. One of the members of is the son of a “Wrecking Crew” recording artist. The story of these members shows and explains how they provided the backbeat, the bottom, and the swinging melodies that led to hundreds of hit records in the 1960’s and 1970‘s.
The list of artists who used the crew in their sessions is astounding: The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Nat King Cole, Simon & Garfunkel, The Righteous Brothers, Phil Spector, Dean Martin, the Monkees, Sonny & Cher, the Mamas and the Papas, and many more.
