House music is remaining at the top of the food chain but the spotlight is being shared with much more than giant festival anthems. You can thank underground acts like Grensta for adding fuel to this fire of minimalist, funky house music that's main goal is to get you starring at the floor dancing instead of jumping up and down with your hands up.
So Strangely might be Grensta's most polished effort yet. The subs sound smoother than ever and the beat is as quite energetic while still retaining its dark, trippy ambiance. The real treat here might just be Bassline Dub which features assistance Embassy. Together they craft a breakbeat rythm with plenty of techy synths and basslines crammed in. It's great to see acts like this maintain these garagy vibes while avoiding the typical techno monotony that continues to plague the genre and keep new fans from hopping aboard. Grensta and friends are coming up quick, don't be surprised to hear more from this Bay Area producer in the near future.
