With their second full length LP “Night Beats” arriving next month (August 24th to be precise), it only seemed right that we grilled house pairing UNDERCOVER for their musical guilty pleasures. Creators of sultry, dynamic tracks that suit multiple moods, we can't wait to hear more from this pairing in the future.
1) Alexander O'Neal – “Fake”
When he asks “Can I get some nasty bass..?” in the beginning, you know you're in for a good time. One of the most underrated singers hands down, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are somewhat of an obsession. Corny lyrics, and an undeniable groove.
2) Alisha – “All Night Passion”
Not as famous as another one-named pop star starting out in the 80's, but Alisha had one of the biggest club tracks. The 12″ mix will still keep you moving.
3) Stevie Nicks – “Stand Back”
Not exactly a guilty pleasure because I'm a die hard Stevie fan… but when my favorite classic rocker took on the synthesised 80's sound, she kept it rocking and filled dance floors at the same time. Awesome vocal and of course, Prince on keyboards.
4) The Whispers – “Rock Steady”
Whether you're on a dance floor or at a block party, you will be singing along when the chorus hits. L.A. Reid & Babyface had a signature production sound and gave the Whispers a hit this great group deserved.
5) Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam – “Just Get It Together”
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Full Force's production, and back-up vocals by a group called Ex-Girlfriend. Freestyle music was big growing up, and the acts of that genre remain a guiltiest of pleasures.
