Paradigm (Paradigm Talent Agency) made some big news in 2012 when they partnered with AM Only. Now it seems they're taking things to another level by teaming up with the growing powerhouse of The Windish Agency, Billboard announced yesterday. Paradigm's network of agencies now includes Winidsh, AM Only, and CODA. They've already updated their website as well with logos to represent the powerful trio.
With about 750 artists and 30 agents, The Windish Agency has really evolved in the past couple years – in large part to their impressive talent. Founded in 2004, their artists come from various backgrounds in electronic and indie rock. Among them, there are plenty of “EDM” superstars like Diplo, Jamie XX, Duke Dumont, Flosstradamus, Dillon Francis, Aphex Twin, M83, Chromeo, Flume, and Odesza. They also have artists like Alt-J, Big Boi, Lorde, and the War on Drugs – not to mention some of the best up and coming alternative rock talent like Wolf Alice and the new band formed by The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas (Julian Casablancas & The Voidz).
Paradigm also cited The Windish Agency for having “impeccable A&R instincts.” Their Music Director Chip Hooper said that they had a “really interesting roster of clients that are in a place in their evolution where this makes sense for everyone. But, No. 1, they’re good people, because if they weren’t, there’d be nothing to talk about.”
All of the artists currently on the Windish roster are expected to continue after this merger.
Founder of The Windish Agency, Tom Windish, talked about the partnership by saying, “Partnering with Paradigm, AM Only and Coda solidifies our long-standing relationship as collaborators, and our respective cultures and synergies will significantly enhance the entire team's ability to provide exceptional service and representation for all of our artists.”
He also added (via Thump), “Windish will continue to run The Windish Agency and will join the Paradigm Music leadership team of Chip Hooper, Marty Diamond, Paul Morris and the Coda partners.
With so many promising acts – including artists that debuted at Coachella this year – it will be interesting to see how this former competitor evolves with a great network at Paradigm. The New York Times noted that Tom Windish was the “busiest man” at South by Southwest in 2012 – with over 1,000 acts playing there. Part of his desire to join up with Paradigm was apparently to book “larger tours” in the future.”
