On their social media pages this week, Burning Man announced that their beloved Black Rock City desert was cleaned and sweeped until a final inspection crew shared some important news: the site is clean enough for the fest to return in 2016.
Held on public land, this festival relies on volunteers and helpers to clean up the site each year in order to guarantee the fest can regain their permit to hold a Burning Man the following year. There were some speculation leading up to this year's event that this might be the last year in Black Rock City.
The Bureau of Land Management representatives met with the DPW Playa Restoration team to review the site last week and a final document will reveal their findings in a couple months. Insiders showed their results, however – a “preliminary,” “unofficial” PASS.
