A new study from Clemson University has yielded an incredible experiment that was able to suspend a liquid drop in mid-air. By using an ultrasonic wave caused by an “acoustic environment” which flattens the liquid from its spherical shape. This demonstration below shows the power of sound over gravity in a very interesting way.
As the strength of the field increases, some incredible movement occurs in the droplet, creating a unique movement as the drops struggle to maintain shape. If the frequency is set too high, the droplet will dissipate.
