Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held a special function yesterday to raise money for his campaign at one of the most popular Los Angeles nightclubs, Avalon. The event took place at the famed venue on 1735 Vine Street in Hollywood with doors opening at 4 P.M. and the function seemed to be a successful one. Sanders is on the heels of a well-recieved performance in Tuesday's first democratic debate (held at the Wynn in Las Vegas, NV) where he made some bold statements about his stance on creating jobs, focusing on education. This was his first appearance since and a very positive one as well.
The Wednesday fundraiser left plenty of media giving Sanders EDM puns all over the internet (“Sandstorm” for example). The Wrap reports that Sanders has already raised $26 million during his campaign which is just a couple million behind Hillary Clinton. Sanders was praised for his response to Clinton during their Tuesday debate regarding his gun control policy.
According to reports, Sanders also busted out a few dance moves (he will also be dancing on an episode of the Ellen Degeneres Show which he filmed while in Los Angeles that airs today. Looking to become the first Jewish president of the United States, Sanders received a warm welcome to the City of Angels. He held a rally at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in August with over 27,000 “Berners” there in support. Read a full report from the event by The Los Angeles Times here.
Sanders will hold another fundraiser on October 14th in Los Angeles at Syd and Linda Liebovitch's Beverly Hills home. Tickets are going for upwards of nearly $3,000 according to Variety.
