I Tried is the debut EP from enigmatic new duo, Folded Like Fabric recently released via Beauvoir Records. Bred from a mutual admiration for music, love and their hometown, Hasting natives Connor Sims and Jay Mooncie offer an insight in to their idiosyncratic world of sharply contemporary pop songs laced with jazz inflections and melancholic vocal lines. Title track “I Tried” is accompanied by EP opener “Patiently” a mesmerising show of the duos ability to effortlessly blend Sims’ etherised vocal lines with sleek production. “Hunting For Reason,” is softer in its demeanor, laid-back beats intricately balanced with brooding basslines and punctuated melody. “You Said” with its rhythmic jaunt, changing tempos and tender interweaving vocals further assures that Folded Like Fabric are undoubtedly one of the most exciting propositions for 2015. Irrefutably English, their 4-track debut is an emphatic statement of things to come from this endearingly elegant duo.
