For those of us who love the outdoors and being able to camp at some of our favorite sites and festivals, being prepared with the right equipment and gear can make a world of difference. For campers, the company Outback Logic has stepped up and given us a look into the future with a very versatile tent, the Siesta 4.
Although their Kickstarter campaign is still active and there is only a prototype to see, the developers of this new tent have already achieved their goal and it's easy to see why. When the sun comes, reflective fly fabric blocks infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light. This reduces the brightness and heat which can damper your morning when you wake up to face the elements. As their campaign states, “even in blazing sunshine” you will get the best sleep possible.
The three developers of the tent are from London, Australia, and San Francisco, CA. The heat-reflective concept was developed by Gareth Price, a Sydney native who came up with the original concept after surviving high temperatures at a music festival in his native Australian outback.
Fitting up to four people, the tent is truly multi-dimensional. Photos below show the inner and outer features of the Siesta 4. Above, a thermal Camera shows the difference between fly fabric and their foil compared to generic material. Below, inner features on full display. A USB fan pulls in cool air, keeping circulation throughout the tent at a nice level. This is just one of the reasons this tent is ideal for hot conditions.
