Kenton Slash Demon, the duo I named the 2nd best underrated artist of 2015 just dropped a new EP, and it is Chicago 1871 level fire. ‘TT/Dok' is a two tracked extended play that is the follow up to last year's critically and fan acclaimed ‘Harpe/Syko'.
The lead track on the EP, ‘TT' is a fast, futuristic, house paced tune that could be heard in the club just as easily as it could be heard out of your home stereo. Kenton Slash Demon has a unique ability to produce music that is both public and private in nature. It would make an entire venue full of people move and groove together, but just as easily be listened to while studying for midterm exams (like I did this past week). ‘TT' features many of KSD's signatures like distorted moans and vocal pitches as well as an ever changing snare arrangement. This song is excellent, easily one of the best tracks released this year.
The tail end of the EP, ‘Dok', is a bit more of a departure from the KSD's normal modus operandi. Well actually I take that back, their MO is kind of to always push the boundaries of what is expected of them, and ‘Dok' certainly follows suit with this pattern. Throughout the track a haunting background overtone illuminates a quick paced snare and kick pattern which blends seamlessly into the distorted vocal pitches to make for a hypnotic, spiritual listening experience.
All in all this EP is absolutely incredible. We don't give albums scores here at EDM Sauce but if we did there is no doubt that ‘TT/Dok' would be a perfect 10. Kenton Slash Demon is synonymous with innovation and success, these two tracks only continue to lead credence to that belief. Check out the EP below.
